About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in individual therapy, and maintain a private practice in Seattle, WA. I currently meet via a HIPPA-compliant Telehealth site.

With 30 years experience as a mental health therapist and over 20 years as and EMDR therapist, I am currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, relationship transitions, personal transitions, positive self-growth and goal setting, post-traumatic stress disorder, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an effective treatment for many emotional issues, especially personal trauma and recovery.  I have worked with youth, adults, couples, and families in both outpatient agencies, inpatient hospitals, and private practice over the past 30 years.

I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. My favorite quote is "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls." - Joseph Campbell. We are all handed life experiences and beliefs as we grow up that can feel like walls to gaining what we want out of life. We may be dealing with expectations from parents, employers, partners, and society that don't feel like a good fit for us - they do not lead us to our bliss. I have helped many clients move through the traumas, disappointments, and entanglements of the past to build the life they find blissful. Some of the most successfully blissful clients I have had came from a history of trauma and abuse. There is a Buddhist saying that the only constant in life is change. Change can be beautiful when we are in the flow of life and it can be painful when we are resisting it. Once we are able to let go of what no longer works for us, we free up the space to allow in what does work for us - new skills, new experiences, new beliefs, new connections. Therapy is an hour of teamwork and then a week or more (between sessions) of contemplation, applying of new skills, seeing what works, and looking for inspiration to guide us to the next logical step. The time between sessions are the most powerful, educational, and enlightening times. We will work together to build on what you learn between sessions to keep you on track, moving forward to a new chapter in your life.
